Comments and markup are not importing from word.

Hi! I use my chromebook to open microsoft word files sent to me. I open them in google docs. Suddenly midday today, I am finding that when I open a .docx file in google docs I cannot see the markup and comments as I usually can. Help please!! Thank you!

Hi, Marnie,

Please clear the cache in the browser and then try signing into your account in a new window using incognito mode. Are the markups showing for you in incognito mode?

Just tried it—it works! Thanks so much for taking care of this.
That's awesome, Lucy! You're very welcome.

It's working for me now, too. I hope it's working for everyone else as well (fingers crossed)!

Hi Jo, so I noticed that while it is fixed and allows the comments on a word doc to import into google doc, the reverse is not working properly. When I save as a word doc from my google doc it is not retaining all of my comments/strikethroughs.
Hi, Justin,

How are you opening the converted document? Do you see the tracking and comments when you convert it back to Docs format? (To do that, open the .docx file and go to File > Save as Google Docs).

If you are double-clicking it in your Downloads folder and opening it as .docx file that way, it won't show the tracking/comments. If you send the downloaded file as an email attachment to yourself, the tracking/comments should show up in preview. If you then select "Open with Google Docs" in preview, you should see a blue .docx to the right of the file's name (in the open document) and the tracking and comments should be intact.

I just tested this out and that's how it's working for me. Please give it a try following the steps above.

Hmm - so what I was doing was opening the downloaded .docx in Pages actually (I don't have Word hence my use of google docs for this) - the comments and changes don't track in Pages after being downloaded from google, while in the past they used to. I am unsure if the downloaded .docx retains the comments when opened in Word as I do not have access however we normally download our google docs to a .docx and email it to our clients who will then use Word for more revisions before sending back to us.
Hi, Justin,

You might want to start a new thread about this, since it's not quite the same problem that the original user posted about. I don't use Pages, so I can't test this out. But if you start a new thread, perhaps other users who have Pages can confirm the issue.
