Google Sheets - Drop down list help please

I mow yards on the side and Im trying to create a spreadsheet that keeps up with the dates in which I done each yard.  I have the yards listed from top to bottom and the dates from left to right at the top and I've been just putting an "X" on the date that I do them but when I view this on my phone on the go the sheet is so long. My thoughts is, create a drop down box, select the name of the property and then just add the "X" to the date it was mowed rather than having them listed from top to bottom. I know how to create the drop down list that shows all the property names but I do not know how to get the dates in which each was mowed to change with the selection. Is this possible?

Hey Dewayne,

Ok, that's great!

So, since you want to be able to see what lawns are due for care, I added a few entries to the Form Response sheet (I made up names). I dated them as though you'd mowed those lawns in late June.

As one idea to show you, I created a tab called "DueByAge".  Here, you can view all the lawns that you last visited more than X days ago. You can enter the age in the purple cell at the top. Right now it's 7 Days or older. They're all listed below, showing the date of last service and how many days ago that was.

Take a look and let me know what you think!
Best,
Lance

Lance,

That is awesome!! The only question I have left and I don't even know if it's doable but you seem to know way more than me so I may as well ask. I have all 97 lawns split into groups based on their location. Is there a way to have a "DueByAge" tab for each group? For example

Group 1
Fontana
Mt Laurel
Blackjack
Silvercreek

Group 2
Mt Magic
Urban Cowboy
Buckwild
Serenity Lodge

DueByAgeGroup1 would show the exact info you have the current "DueByAge" show but only for the yards in the group and then on another tab DueByAgeGroup2 would do the same. This way I can just click on the tab for the group Im looking for and there's all the info.

Hey Dewayne!

I'm so glad you like it! And sure, we can separate your list of lawns into 3 groups.

I've set it up as a demo on the sheet. You'll now see 3 new tabs "G1.Due", "G2.Due", and "G3.Due".  Each of these will look at the Form Responses, and show the lawns in that group for the age you select, "older than 5 days" etc.

Spend a minute or two looking at the demo as it stands. Let me know if you see problems, or would like any fixes.  When you're happy with it,  we'll delete all these sample entries and get the sheet ready to use.

To create the group assignments, there's another tab called GroupAssign. On this tab will be a complete list of all 97 (or more) of your lawns, and what group they belong in. You can enter them in any order, just select the group number next to their name.

It's important that the spelling, spacing, and capitalization you use here is an exact match to the spelling you used on the Form. Even an extra space at the end will prevent the lawn from showing up in its group.

If you're doing this on a phone, let me know and I can set this up for you using your real lawn names and making sure everything matches. If you need me to do that, add me as a "collaborator" on the Form so I can grab the names as you entered them.

Setting up the GroupAssigns is a one time only process.

Ok! Take a look and talk soon,
Lance

Hey Dewayne,

We met on the sheet. We assigned each lawn to one of 6 groups and I created 6 tabs for the groups. Look good!

Note that in Group 5, the name "It's all good" needs to have the apostrophe removed. I did it on the Sheet, you need to do it on the Form.

WHEN YOU'RE READY, I'll delete all the test entries from the Form Response sheet and give you a FRESH copy of this spreadsheet. The sample sheet we've been working on should stay here on the forum, but in the real world, you'll work on the new copy that will not be shared here. I'll probably delete your real cabin names too, just leave a few sample names in the demo.

Talk soon,
Lance
