Formatting Issues when uploading Word docs in .docx format

I create documents using Word 2016 then upload to Google Docs to share with coworkers.  The documents look fine in Word, but when I open the uploaded .docx file using Google Docs, the formatting is horrendous.  Is there a simple way (in layman's terms, please) to avoid this issue?

How are you uploading these Word documents? Are you uploading them via Drive on the web (https://drive.google.com)? Or are you using Backup and Sync/Drive File Stream?

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I edited a docx on my Ipad then closed the doc, assuming it would save automatically. But today when I opened my docx, all of my edits made the previous day were gone. I do not understand why all of my edits disappeared. Can someone help me understand why and tell me if there is any way to get those edits back?

Hi!

Since your question involves Google Docs, please copy and paste your post to the Google Docs Help Community, where experts on those issues are deployed. Here is a link to that community:

I have a document that I open & edit in Sheets on two different work PCs.  On one, if I add something, it may or may not retain the correct font or size. On one PC it displays everything in one font, which looks nice, but on the other one, it displays everything exactly as the system did it, so things are in different sizes and look bad. I am assuming it does the same thing in Word. How do I change my settings to always view the sheet or document AS IS and not with some overlay that smooths out all the rough edges and makes everything uniform. I don't want my work documents being submitted looking like that, but if I use the first PC, I won't even know they do.

Hi guys!
I think I found a solution for the formatting issue ;)  It's really easy......
Before you upload your Word Files to Google Docs, open them and save them as Word 97 - 2003 Document. Then upload the new Word Files to Google Docs.

Try it out!  ;)

My new company only uses GSuites and my new laptop does not even have Microsoft Office loaded for me to use on all my documents/sheets I have already created.

Using Google products has been the hardest and most time consuming thing I have done in the last 20 years and I am very technical. I do my research to try to figure out how to make things work and these type of forums prove to me that using Microsoft Office is much easier and I don't care how much it may cost. I do not have any control over the way GSuites is set up but there are things people are saying to do that I don't even have an option to do. I do not even have the option to "to save as when trying to convert from word to Google docs." I spent 4  hours this week watching videos of how to do things in Gsuites and a lot of that information was old and not up to date. (Udemy training).

Tried to send client a spreadsheet the other day and they never got it. Tried 3 more times and it appears the only way I can is to send them a link. I work with banks and credit unions. I don't want to send them links. I want to send them a document or spreadsheet they can open. I can not send from inside the document or sheet as I need to be able to record the email in Salesforce. Google is not a business structured product.

Sorry to hear you're having problems Nancy.
I advise you to go through your GSuite Admin (who should have access to Google support) as this forum focuses mainly on private Gmail accounts and is run by volunteers, most of whom do not have much business Gsuite experience.
Google docs is designed to run in the cloud, and to Share files rather than emailing them around. You could Share **  the file with your collaborators, and send them a separate email to give them the link if you need that for auditing purposed.

**You can Share with or without editing permissions.

Thank you, not collaborating with clients, trying to send them proposals and data information,.
