can't open gsheet

I had 4GB on my gdrive space taken by files that were not there.. (there were many pics I was owner, but I didn't see them. I had to search them by name which I got from the person I was sharing it with :O : O...), It took ages, but I cleared some 95% of my gdrive that I found.

At first, not to loose any of my important documents, I transfered my important folders that I wanted to keep to my hard drive on my MAC (in finder I simply have a gdrvie folder, so I moved it out)...

Later I moved the files back, but all the gsheets and gdocs -> yes these files that were so important that I backed them up not to loose them... they can no longer be opened.. on my disk I see a red exlamation mark and they simply won't even sync..

I have emptied my bin- How can I access these gsheets?
Thank you.. This is a really strange behavior and makes gsheet so insecure :O

I found a solution:
- I requested a recovery and within less then an hour the files were back (creating a mess on my gdrive)
- only possible max 25 days back, but at least I didn't loose the files..

Hi Dudy,

Welcome to the Google Docs Editors help community.

The .gsheet and .gdoc files on your computer are only shortcut links to the real files which are in your Google Drive.  IF you have somehow uploaded any .gsheet or .gdoc files to your Google Drive, then you have only uploaded shortcut files which are not the real Sheets/Docs files, and these can NOT be opened by Google Sheets or Google Docs.

Hi, thank, but well, honestly... Google is big enough to find a solution for such an important and competitive service.. Sheets are way better then MS office, but for this risk, I simply do not want to use it again...
