When you use google docs "Publish to Web" function, does this embedded data get crawled by google?
When you use google docs File > Share > Publish to Web function, using either the embed or link - does this get crawled/indexed by google? Has anyone discovered any way to make this happen? Would be very useful if this was enabled!
When you share a file with "Anyone with the link", the file will be accessible to anyone who has the link, but it will not be indexed by Google Search. This means that people cannot find the file by searching for it in Google.
If you want to share a file so that it can be found by Google Search, you can publish it to the web. To do this, open the file and click File > Publish to the web. Then, choose the publishing options you want and click Publish.
Once you have published the file to the web, you can copy the link and share it with anyone. The file will now be indexed by Google Search and people will be able to find it by searching for it.
Please note that publishing a file to the web will make it publicly accessible to anyone on the internet. If you do not want the file to be publicly accessible, you should not publish it to the web.
Here are some tips for sharing files securely:
Only share files with people you trust.
Be careful about sharing links on social media or other public websites.
This makes sense. Could you please clarify something for me regarding your comment: "Once you have published the file to the web, you can copy the link and share it with anyone. The file will now be indexed by Google Search and people will be able to find it by searching for it."
If a google doc has been published, and embedded into a webpage, does it get indexed in relation to the page it's embedded on? Or as a stand-alone document?
