Google Docs Offline Help - "Resources Unavailable"

Hello,

So, where I live, I have no Wi-Fi. I do written work for customers, however, and before, I used Google Docs primarily to write and store the work before I would go to Wi-Fi (usually Starbucks) to copy and then send the work to the client. Previously, I was able to work offline just fine, but for some reason, lately it no longer allows me to. I have begun to use a new laptop (new in the sense that it was not mine previously), yet for some reason, it doesn't want to load Google Docs. It just says "resource unavailable" when I try to click on Docs offline.

I have the Google Docs Offline extension downloaded and on. I have the option to access Google Docs and Google Drive offline marked. And, I went onto a document that was already made, shut Wi-Fi off, and wrote. It saved just fine. But when I try to open the Docs home, it doesn't load.

I'm not super tech savvy, and I'm honestly confused what to do about this.

Any help would be appreciated,
David

SUCCESS!!! at least in my case. Here is what Jimmy S. Google Employee wrote in another thread, and it WORKED for me!!! :    "Could you go to chrome://settings/content/cookies and check if "Block third-party cookies" is enabled? We're encountering issues with this setting and Docs Offline. If so, try disabling the setting and re-enabling Docs Offline. - Jimmy S. Google Employee"    WOO-HOOOOOO

I have the same issue. I used docs offline for 2 years, on my Chromebook, then after the Chrome OS update the first week in Oct 2018, I no longer have offline access. I was actually using docs online, chrome said an update was available, installed the Chrome OS update, finished the doc, turned off wifi to check my work offline and the 'not connected sad dinosaur' page said I needed to connect! Then, 2 months later docs offline quit working on my windows 7 PC. Then last month docs offline quit working on my windows 10 PC. I tried everything suggested on the forums and nothing has worked. It is so frustrating. I have had to save the doc as a windows word file to my sd card in my chromebook while I'm on wifi so I can use the doc offline. 2 years it worked like magic, then it simply quit.... sorry, but I have found no reason or solution.

This may help with the latest version on Windows 10 - I was having exactly the same issue.

Update Backup & Sync to latest version if youre using it.
Open Chrome / Google Drive / Settings
If "Offline" is ticked - untick it and select DONE.
Let it do its thing, sign out of drive when done & close chrome.
Reopen Chrome, sign back in and go back to settings.
This time tick the offline box and click on DONE.
Let it set all the offline stuff up again.
Then select whatever files u want offline, and turn on the "ready for offline" toggle.

Worked for me with no web connection, airplane mode and when opening a file from the backup folder I have set up.

Same experience as Dabcorn Popper. Had been happily editing G. Docs offline on my Chromebook for what seems like years. Now it no longer works - I just get the 'sad dinosaur'. I often stay in a place with no wi-fi so this has become a real nuisance.

You have to regularly connect that computer to Wi-Fi. Otherwise, it wouldn't be able to sync all of your changes—that's where your changes supposed to go! Additionally, syncing it will also allow you to have a backup copy of it, and will make the extension work. The reason why the 'sad dino' appears is because Google Docs Offline is already requesting for you to be online—its tools needs to be updated at the same time while the file is being uploaded.

Additionally, check if your Google Chrome is updated. It must be because whenever the offline extension updates, it requires the latest update of Chrome. Make sure as well that it is always there and is always activated.

HELP!!! I'm on HughesNet and cannot (for a week now) access my students' exams in Google Docs. Granted, HNet is not blazing fast "internet where you live" but I can access so many other sites without issue. I've got to get these scored and returned!!!!!

I have been having this issue and it was driving me mad, but this morning I removed ALL the extensions (I didn't even know most of them were there) and now it works - such a relief - hope this works for everyone else who has been having trouble... you can get to extensions via this -  chrome://extensions/
