How can I duplicate a sheet and keep the same protected ranges as the sheet that I copied from?

How can I duplicate a sheet and keep the same protected ranges as the sheet that I copied from? I have seen others ask but there has been no correction of this that I have seen. HELP.

Hi Barry,

If you copy a sheet of yours, the protections will persist. Please explain more your issue.

That is incorrect. When I duplicate a sheet, the protections do NOT. follow. Therefore any protections that I have on any cells, columns, or rows do NOT duplicate with the sheets that I duplicate. Please help.

I literally tested it before posting. Created a sheet, protected a column, made a copy of the sheet (with File > Create a Copy) and the protections were on the new sheet.

I am not trying to duplicate the entire file. Going into File > Make a Copy makes a copy of the entire file under another name. I want to copy 1 sheet within that file. So when I right click on a specific sheet that is located on the bottom of the screen, it gives me an option to “duplicate.” In duplicating this  1 sheet, it does not copy protected ranges.
