Transfer of ownership of a document from a personal account to a work account

I was working with my previous company when ownership of a google sheet was transferred to my personal email. Now that I have left the company, I would like to transfer the ownership to someone within the company but Google doesn't allow me to do so. Please advice on how I can go about doing it as I wish to handover the file and remove myself from its involvement permanently

Hi, Brian,

It's not possible to transfer ownership of a Sheets file from a personal account to a business account (or vice versa). However, you could download the sheet to Excel format and share it with your prior employer via an email. They could then convert it back to Docs/Sheets format and would be the owner of that sheet.

Hi Brian Fergus Phua

Yiu cannot change ownership between domains. You need to share it with a candidate owner an ask the to make their own copy and use that going forward.
