When trying to make headers it does the entire page
I'm doing highliting a title, selecting "header 1" and also doing subheadings on a few within the chapter.
Once I get to chapter six I highlight the chapter title, "header 1" and it does about half the chapter as the title in the contents page. Why is this happening? I'm not highlighting anything other than the title. Help!

Hi, Shannon,
Soft returns are the only thing that would cause this. If it's not happening elsewhere, it means you used hard returns in those areas. The same is true whether text above or below a heading changes -- it's caused by the use of soft returns.
It's not a good idea to use soft returns anywhere, especially if you want to pull your document into other software, such as a Kindle. Breaking the habit of using soft returns would be smart, even if it's built into your typing "muscle memory." I can't advise you about formatting specifically for a Kindle, as that is not a Google product. You might want to inquire about that on a Kindle (Amazon) help forum.

Hi, Shannon,
It sounds like you might have used "soft" returns after certain headings and paragraphs rather than "hard" returns. A soft return happens when you press Enter + Shift, rather than just the Enter key. When a soft return is used, the heading and paragraphs that follow aren't really disconnected, so the formatting you apply to one will affect them all.
Please go back to the ends of each of the problematic headings and paragraphs and use a hard return (press only the Enter key).
Does that resolve it for you?

Any idea how to properly format the text and photos properly for a kindle eBook? Their app isn't working for me either.
Thank You.

Hi, Shannon,
I'm not sure what you are referring to, and it would be difficult to say what is causing this without seeing the document directly. Would you be willing to share a copy of a few of the problematic pages with editing permission so I could take a direct look and try to figure out what's going on? If so, please follow these steps:
- Open the document you need help with.
- Choose File > Make a copy.
- In the new copy of the document remove any sensitive information, or replace it with similar placeholder data, and remove any unnecessary pages (that is, pages without the problem).
- Choose File > Share.
- Under Get link click the "Change" button and change the access to "Anyone with the link CAN EDIT."
- Copy the link from the SHARE BOX (not the URL bar).
- Click Done.
- Paste the link in a reply post in this thread.
