Do copied comments get notifications?
I created a document and sent it to my client. They shared it with several of their team and left comments. Now, I want to go through their comments with my team to make a decision on which feedback we will implement and which we will not.
I made a copy of my own document (I am owner), copied the comments, but didn't share with the same people. If I respond to the comments in my copied version, will people who left comments get notified?

I just tested this out and it appears that the original poster will not be notified of a reply to their comment in a copy of the original file, as long as the copy isn't shared with them. When you reply to a comment from the original file, you should see "comments above copied from original document." Any comments you make below that line will not be sent to the original commenter.
Does that cover what you need or do you have additional questions about this?

So as to reiterate in case anyone else finds this question:
When you copy a document with comments (and DO NOT share with the same people), when you reply to those comments, a notification will NOT be sent to the original commenter.
If you copy a document with comments, and share that document with the same people, any replies to those comments will notify the commenter.
