My spell check on google docs is not working, even after trouble shooting

My spell check on google docs is not working. Even after going through previous forums to try to solve my problem, it still didn't work. I've purposely miss spelled words with the check there and not there, and it still doesn't pick it up that it is wrong. Please fix this issue as soon as possible. Also, spelling errors become underlined while on other google items, but still not working for my docs.

Hi, Hannah,

Please go to Tools > Spelling > Underline errors. Is there a check mark beside Underline errors? If so, click on it to remove the check mark. Then click on it again to add it back.

Does that fix it for you?

Also, are you sure you have the correct language set?

I'm having the same issue. My settings appear to be correct and my language is set. Errors are not underlined and not found when I run the manual spell check under tools.

Hi, SS333,

Please go to Tools > Spelling > Underline errors. Is there a check mark next to Underline errors? If not, click on it to add one. If there already is a check mark there, click to UN-check it and then click to add the check mark back. Does that fix it?

If it doesn't, please tell me which browser and operating system you're using.

hello, I am very troubled as after the new update nothing seems to be working, First google spell check generates a string of random characters and now spell check is completely removed. Is there an old version which we could downgrade to as this new update has been terrible for students like myself.

Which browser (and browser version), operating system, and device are you using?

Is this a school, business, or personal account?

I have exactly the same problem!  I restarted my browser, computer, document, ACCOUNT, but that didn't do anything.  It might have something to do with the new Grammarly in docs, but I'm not sure.  I already checked and unchecked the spell check option.

Hi, Tristan,

Grammerly can definitely interfere with Docs (as can other browser extensions). Please close Docs, uninstall Grammerly, clear the cache in your browser, and then restart Docs.

Is the spell checker working for you now?
