How do I select every document in "Home" - not just those on the current page?

Before you post! Please search for your answer first. If you haven’t searched for an answer, then click on “edit question” above to return to our suggestions on how to find your answers. Providing the following information will help us troubleshoot your issue:

Is there a shortcut / shortcut keys that allow you to select all files in "Home" at once rather than doing so page by page?

I'd like to have the Home clear so it acts like an inbox/intray. Thoughts?

Thanks

John

What do you mean page by page?  I thought it scrolled down a page, not separated documents into different pages...

In terms of the shortcut requested, clicking to the left of the "Title" column header selects everything on the Home page...

Hope this helps!

You are right that scrolling down shows more files, however if there are thousands of files this is a very laborious process. This is especially so after uploading documents during migration from a different system as they all end up in Home. The "Select All" box to the right of the title only selects those visible in the Docs list, not all that are in "Home".

I was hoping there was an option to select the first file and then use Ctrl+??? to select all the others. I know many of the users in our domain would also benefit from this option. Does any such option exist?

Thanks

Hi John!

If in the home menu, it should select all of the documents in the home menu...  I'm not sure what you mean when you say that it <<only selects those visible>>...

Hope I can help!

No, I already use those shortcuts, and Shift+A is not it. This too just selects all that are "visible" in the "Home" section of the docs list. The best way I can explain is by comparison to GMail. In Gmail, you can select all visible email conversations by using the Select All box. However it puts a not at the top of the page with a link eg All 100 conversations on this page are selected. Select all 956 conversations in Inbox  that lets you select every email conversation, including those that don't show on the current view/page. I appreciate that Gmail does use a "page" system and that Docs uses a continuous scrolling system, but as I have said this is tedious if you have thousands of files. I'm sure I read somewhere that there was a shortcut to select the last file in "Home" but can't find it now. If it was possible to select the first file and then press Ctrl+ or shift+ and it would select all files through to the very last in your docs list that would work, although a Gmail like solution would be best....

Thanks for efforts...

I agree that clicking in the little box top left should tick ALL files, not just those that are currently visible. Or perhaps a variant such as Shift-click the box so one could optionally choose only visible files or the whole dam' lot of them.
