Zoom or change your document view

You can change how you view a document with zoom, print view, full-screen and compact controls mode.

Google Sheets doesn’t have zoom, but you can use zoom on Chrome. To zoom in a slide, you can use keyboard shortcuts.

Zoom in or out

You can make a document look bigger or smaller in Google Docs with zoom.

  1. Open a document in Google Docs.
  2. In the toolbar under "Insert," click 100%.
    • To make the document always fit your browser window, click Fit.
    • To choose how much to zoom in or out, choose a zoom level from the list or enter a number from 50 to 200.

Change your view

  1. Open a document in Google Docs.
  2. On the toolbar click View, then click an option.
    • Compact controls: This hides the menu bar, but leaves the toolbar visible.
    • Full screen: This hides the menu and toolbar. To exit full screen, on your keyboard, press Esc or Escape.
    • Print layout: Shows your headers, footers, and margins between pages as if you’d printed out the document.

Note: When you change your document view, Google Docs remembers it the next time you open it. This doesn’t change the view settings for anyone else looking at the document.
