Freeze, group, hide, or merge rows & columns

You can freeze, group, hide, or merge your spreadsheet’s columns, rows, or cells.

Freeze or unfreeze rows or columns

To pin data in the same place and see it when you scroll, you can freeze rows or columns.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open a spreadsheet in the Google Sheets app.
  2. Tap a row number or column letter.
  3. In the menu that appears, tap the right arrow  and then Freeze or Unfreeze.
Hide rows or columns
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open a spreadsheet in the Google Sheets app.
  2. Tap a row or column.
  3. In the menu that appears, tap the right arrow  and then Hide row or Hide column.
Group or ungroup rows or columns
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open a spreadsheet in the Google Sheets app.
  2. Highlight the rows or columns you want to group or ungroup.
  3. Tap the highlighted rows or columns.
  4. In the menu that appears, tap the right arrow  and then Group or Ungroup.

To expand or collapse grouped rows or columns, tap Plus (+) or Minus (-).

Note: If there’s a group within a group, first, tap the Double arrows ».
