Format numbers in a spreadsheet

You can format your data in several different ways in Google Sheets so that your spreadsheet and its contents are displayed how you want them.

Format numbers, dates, and currencies

To format numbers, dates, or currencies in a spreadsheet, follow these steps:

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open a spreadsheet in the Google Sheets app.
  2. Tap a cell or range of cells.
  3. Tap Format Format.
  4. Tap Cell and then Number format.
  5. Tap an option from the list. The format will be applied to your selected cells.

The date, time, and currency options are based on the spreadsheet’s locale. To see more options, tap More date/time formats or More currency formats.

See the number format applied to a cell

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open a spreadsheet in the Google Sheets app.
  2. Tap on a cell or range of cells.
  3. Tap Format Format.
  4. Tap Cell.
  5. The number format type is listed next to "Number format."
