    • Use the Ctrl + K keyboard shortcut (Cmd + K on a Mac).
  4. In the "Text" field that appears, type or edit the text you'd like displayed in the cell containing the link. Leave this field blank if you want the full URL to be displayed in your spreadsheet.
  5. In the “Link” field, you can either paste a URL or email address, or type in the field to begin a search of relevant links across web content and your Google Drive files. You can also click Find more below the search results to browse additional options.
  6. Click Apply.

Note: At the moment, you can’t enter formulas or cell references into the link creation tool. But, if you want to create a link using formulas, use the HYPERLINK function.

If the instructions above didn't work, you might be on the classic version of Sheets. Follow these alternate instructions:

Add a link using the older version of Google Sheets

If you are using the older version of Google Sheets, you can insert a HYPERLINK formula into the desired cell. For example:

=HYPERLINK("www.google.com", "Google")

In this example, the word “Google” would appear in the spreadsheet and be linked to www.google.com.
