Switch between multiple Google accounts

You can add and switch between multiple Google accounts on Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides. To switch accounts on Google Drive, disconnect and reinstall Drive with your other account.

Choose what kind of accounts you're switching between:

Both my accounts have the same ending (like @gmail.com)

You cannot switch between two @gmail.com accounts in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

To use two accounts with the same ending, use one of these options:

  • To temporarily sign in to another account, use Google Chrome's incognito window or the private browsing mode for your browser. Keep in mind that your browsing history isn’t saved when you use the incognito window.
  • If you frequently switch between accounts, consider setting up separate profiles for each account. Your accounts will stay separate in different browser windows and your files will always open with the correct account.
  • If you only need to be signed in to one account, you can sign out of all your other accounts. Then sign in to the account you want to use.
My accounts have different endings (like @gmail.com and @example.com)

You can switch between accounts if your Google accounts have different endings.

  1. Sign in to Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides.
  2. In the top right, click your profile photo or email address.
  3. Click the account you want to sign in to.
  4. A new window will open to your other account.
