System requirements and browsers

The latest versions of Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms are compatible with the following operating systems and browsers.

Browsers

Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms work with the 2 most recent versions of the following browsers (unless specified otherwise). Make sure cookies and JavaScript are turned on for your browser.

Other browsers may work, but you might not be able to use all of the features.

Drive for desktop

You can install Drive for desktop on the following operating system:

File systems Drive for desktop supports
The Drive for desktop content cache supports these connected file systems:
  • APFS for macOS
  • HFS+ for macOS
  • NTFS for Windows
Drive for desktop doesn’t support network volumes like:
  • SMB
  • NFS
Drive for desktop creates a virtual Drive, which opens as a FAT file system.
Tip: FAT has file size limitations. The largest possible file for a FAT32 drive is 4 GB.

Important:

  • To edit Microsoft Office in real time, use Office 2010 or up.
  • Drive for desktop doesn't support:
    • 32-bit Windows systems
    • Windows ARM-based devices
    • Operating systems in beta
