Present slides

You can present your slides in full-screen after you have put a presentation together in Google Slides. You can present on your device or on your television with Chromecast or AirPlay, and you can even receive questions in real time while presenting.

View a presentation

To present a full-screen presentation in Google Slides:

Computer
  1. Open the presentation.
  2. In the top right, select Present.
  3. The presentation will become full-screen, starting from the slide you were just viewing. To skip from one slide to the next, use the arrow keys on your keyboard or click the arrow icon in the toolbar at the bottom of your presentation.
  4. To exit full-screen mode, press the Esc key.

Note: Depending on what browser you're using, your presentation may not be launched full-screen when you click Present. Instead, your presentation may open in a new window. To make sure you can present full-screen, try using Google Chrome.

Android
  1. Open a presentation.
  2. In the top right, touch the Present icon .
  3. Choose Present on this device.

Exit a full-screen presentation

  1. Touch the top of the screen.
  2. Touch the back arrow in the top left.

To exit a PowerPoint presentation, touch the "back" button on your device.

iOS
  1. Open a presentation.
  2. In the top right, touch the Present icon .

Exit a full-screen presentation

  1. Touch the top of the screen.
  2. Touch the End button in the top left.

To exit a PowerPoint presentation, touch twice anywhere on your screen or pinch zoom out (place two fingers on the screen and move them together).

Additional computer options

There are several options for presenting your slides in full-screen on a computer:

View a presentation from the beginning
  1. Open the presentation.
  2. In the top right corner, click the drop-down arrow next to the "Present" button.
  3. Select Present from beginning.
View a presentation in a new window
  1. Open the presentation.
  2. In the top right, click the drop-down arrow next to the "Present" button.
  3. Select Present in new window.
View a presentation with speaker notes
  1. Open the presentation.
  2. In the top right, click the drop-down arrow next to the "Present" button.
  3. Select Present with speaker notes.
Actions while presenting

When you are presenting, you can choose additional options in the the toolbar at the bottom of the presentation window, including the ability to:

  • Select slides to present from a list.
  • Open speaker notes.
  • Print the presentation.
  • Download the presentation in PDF or PPTX format.

Present using Chromecast, Hangouts, or AirPlay

You can present slides on your television using Google Chromecast or AirPlay (iPhone or iPad only). You can also present in a video call using Google Hangouts on your mobile device (Android only).

Computer

To present slides using Google Chromecast:

  1. Install the Google Cast extension in Chrome.
  2. Connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast device.
  3. Click the small drop-down arrow on the "Present" button in your presentation and select your Chromecast device from the options. Your presentation will now show on your television.

Android

Chromecast

  1. On your device, connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast.
  2. In the Slides app, open a presentation. Note that Chromecast devices won't work in guest mode.
  3. Touch the Cast icon .
  4. Control your presentation and view notes from your phone or tablet:
    • Swipe left or right to change slides.
    • Use your device volume buttons to increase or decrease the volume.
    • Touch the speaker notes icon to hide or show your notes (phone only).
  5. To stop casting, touch the X on the toolbar or touch the Cast icon > Disconnect.

Google Hangouts

  1. In the Slides app, open a presentation.
  2. Touch the Present icon .
  3. To start a new video call to present in, choose Present to a new video call. To present in a meeting you've already set up, touch its title in the menu.
  4. To start presenting, touch Present. To invite others to the video call, touch Send invite and send an email to the people you want to invite.
  5. To stop presenting, touch the X in the top left.

You can mute and unmute the microphone on your device at any point before or during the presentation by touching the microphone icon .

iOS

Chromecast

  1. On your device, connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast.
  2. In the Slides app, open a presentation. Note that Chromecast devices won't work in guest mode.
  3. Touch the Cast icon .
  4. Control your presentation and view notes from your phone or tablet:
    • Swipe left or right to change slides.
    • Use your device volume buttons to increase or decrease the volume.
    • Touch the speaker notes icon to hide or show your notes (phone only).
  5. To stop casting, touch the X on the toolbar or touch the Cast icon > Disconnect.

AirPlay

  1. In the Slides app, open a presentation.
  2. If there's an Apple TV or other AirPlay receiver in range, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to connect to it. Turn mirroring on by switching the setting from Off to On next to "Mirroring."
  3. Touch the Present icon .
  4. Control your presentation and view notes from your phone or tablet:
    • Swipe left or right to change slides.
    • Use your device volume buttons to increase or decrease the volume.
    • Touch the speaker notes icon to hide or show your notes (phone only).
  5. To stop presenting, touch the X on the toolbar.
