Add or change animations and transitions

You can create visual effects when you add animations to text, images, slides and other objects in Google Slides. You can also animate lists, one click at a time, as you present.

Add and edit animations

  1. On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
  2. Click the text or image that you want to animate.
  3. Click Insert and then Animation.
    • Or, you can click View and then Motion.
  4. Under 'Object animations', select the animation that you want to use.
    • When you add new object animations, they automatically set to 'Appear (On click)' on the right panel.
    • To change the animation start time, select an option from the second drop-down menu.
    • To change the animation speed, drag the slider.
    • To animate lists one line at a time, tick the box next to 'By paragraph'.

Tips:

  • To preview the animation, click Play.
  • When presentations are viewed in some browsers, certain animations may not function.

  2. On the left, click the slide that you want to transition to.
