Create voiceovers with Gemini in Google Vids (Workspace Experiments)

Feature availability

• This feature is available through our early access testing program, Google Workspace Experiments, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI features.
• To check if you have access to Workspace Experiments features, open Google Vids. A window to help you start creating in Vids will appear if you have access. Learn where you can use Workspace Experiments features.
• For users with access to Workspace Experiments, note that new features for Vids are rolling out gradually, and may not be available to you yet.

Generate a script with AI in Google Vids to use for voiceovers, video clips, and narrated screen recordings. You can also write or record your own script.

Tips:

• If you create a video with "Help me create," it automatically generates a voiceover. Create a video with AI in Google Vids.
• You can add up to 50 audio objects (counting individual clips of music, sound effects, or voiceovers) per video. Limits are subject to change.

Record your voiceover

1. On your computer, open Google Vids.
2. Select a video.
   • Or, you can click Start a new video .
3. In the sidebar, click Record .
4. Optional: In the sidebar, you can enter in the script for your scene.
5. Under "Record options," you can choose to record from:
   • Camera
   • Camera & screen
   • Screen
   • Voiceover
6. In the side panel, at the bottom, click Start recording.
   • If you record a clip with the Camera or Screen and camera options, you can use your script in teleprompter mode. Learn more about the Vids recording studio.

Generate an AI Voiceover

Important:

• Generated voiceovers are based on AI models. Options for newly generated voiceovers and voices may change as models are updated.
• Voiceovers that are already generated for existing videos will not change.

You can generate an AI voiceover for one scene at a time, or for all scenes at once.

1. On your computer, open Google Vids.
2. Select a video.
   • Or, you can click Start a new video .
3. In the sidebar, click Voiceover .
4. To generate an AI voiceover, at the top:
   • For one scene: Click Current scene.
   • For all scenes: Click All scenes.
5. In the text box, write your script.
6. Click Generate the voiceover .
7. Under "Voiceover," select a voice for your voiceover:
   • Narrator
   • Educator
   • Teacher
   • Persuader
   • Explainer
   • Coach
   • Motivator
8. Click Select Insert voiceover.
9. Optional: You can edit your voiceover from the new track.
   1. At the bottom, select a scene.
   2. In the text box, enter your new script.
   3. Click Generate the voiceover Update voiceover Replace.

Tips:

• The voiceover supports plain text only, without any emojis or symbols.
• The scripts you use to generate a voiceover can’t exceed 2,500 characters.

You can use Gemini to generate AI voiceovers in these languages:

• English
• French
• German
• Italian
• Japanese
• Korean
• Portuguese
• Spanish

Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Experiments you must exit Workspace Experiments. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Experiments features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Experiments. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Experiments.
