Print a document, spreadsheet, or presentation

If you want a hard copy of Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides, you can print them directly from Chrome and using the mobile apps, or from a PDF using any other computer browser.

Print in Chrome

Print a document
  1. Open the document you want to print.
  2. Go to the File menu.
  3. Click Print.
  4. Make any necessary changes to the selected printer, number of pages and copies, margin size, and other options for the document.
  5. Click Print.
Print a spreadsheet
  1. Open the spreadsheet you want to print.
  2. Go to the File menu.
  3. Click Print.
  4. Make any necessary changes to the spreadsheet formatting (see below).
  5. Click Print.
  6. Make any necessary changes to the selected printer, number of pages and copies, and other options for the spreadsheet.
  7. Click Print.

Formatting your printed spreadsheet

When printing your spreadsheets, you have several options to format the printed version of your spreadsheet.

  • Print one sheet, all sheets, or a selection in a single spreadsheet. If you choose to print a selection, the printed selection is the range of cells you selected before opening the 'Print settings' dialog.
  • Adjust the size to Fit to width or Actual size.
  • Choose either a Landscape or Portrait layout.
  • Select your paper size from the drop-down list.
  • Check the boxes in the Options section to repeat row headers, print without gridlines, include the document title, include sheet names, or include page numbers on your printed copy.
Print a presentation
  1. Open the presentation you want to print.
  2. Go to the File menu.
  3. Click Print.
  4. Make any necessary changes to the selected printer, number of pages and copies, and other options for the presentation.
  5. Click Print.

To adjust the orientation of your printed slides or to print your slides with speaker notes:

  1. Open the presentation you want to print.
  2. Go to the File menu
  3. Select Print settings and preview. A new window showing a preview of your presentation and print options will open.
  4. Click the 1 slide with notes dropdown menu in the toolbar to print your slides with speaker notes or choose how many slides are printed on each page. Click the Landscape dropdown menu to adjust the orientation of your slides when printed.
  5. Click Print in the toolbar.
  6. Make any necessary changes to the selected printer, number of pages and copies, and other options for the presentation.
  7. Click Print.

Print in Firefox or Safari

Print your file as a PDF

To print a document in Firefox or Safari browsers, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides will first download a copy of your file as a PDF for you to print.

  1. Open the document, spreadsheet, or presentation you want to print.
  2. Go to the File menu.
  3. Click Print.
  4. A PDF file containing your document will automatically download. When the download completes, open the PDF file.
  5. In your PDF viewer, go to the File > Print.
  6. Choose your print settings from the menu that opens.
  7. Click Print.
Print your file in another file format

You can also download Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides to another file format, and then print that file. To download a file:

  1. Open the document, spreadsheet, or presentation you want to print.
  2. Go to the File menu.
  3. Hover over Download as… and select the file format you’d like to download your document to.
  4. Find the downloaded file on your computer, and open it.
  5. Print the downloaded file.

Print on Android or iOS

Android

You can print files in the Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps from your Android device once you have set up your printer to work with Google Cloud Print.

  1. Open the app that contains the file you want to print.
  2. Touch and hold the name of the file.
  3. In the box that appears, touch the More icon and select Print. If you are printing a Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides file, you will be asked to save the file as a .pdf first and directed to print the .pdf version of that file in Google Drive.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to select the printer.

If you are in the file itself, you can also touch the grey i button in the top right corner of the screen, touch the More icon , and choose Print.

Note:When you use Google Cloud print from your mobile browser, your file will be printed with your printer's default settings.

iOS
  1. Open the Drive, Docs, Sheets, or Slides app.
  2. Next to the file name, touch the info icon Activity Information.
  3. Select Print.
  4. Touch Google Cloud Print or AirPrint and choose a printer.
  5. Touch Print.

If you print with AirPrint and the file isn’t stored on your device, it will be downloaded before being sent to the printer.
