Collect respondents’ email addresses

Record the email addresses from people who fill out your form. When someone takes your survey, they will be required to enter their email address before they submit the form.

If you use Google apps through work or school, respondents will see a message at the top explaining that their username will be collected automatically.

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. In the top right, click Settings Settings.
  3. Check the box next to "Collect email address."

More options with Google apps for work or school

Response receipts

If you collect responder emails, you can choose whether respondents will get a copy of their answers.

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. In the top right, click Settings Settings.
  3. To allow response receipts, check the box by "Response receipts."

Note: To always send a response receipt, click the circle next to "Always."

Require sign-in to view a form

If you use Google apps for work or school, your form settings will require people to sign in to your domain by default. This adds a layer of security to sensitive files. If you want, you can allow respondents from outside your domain to view your form.

  1. Open the form.
  2. At the top right, click Settings Settings.
  3. Check the box next to "Restrict to [yourdomain.com] users."
