View and manage form responses

You can view and restrict replies to a form with Google Forms.

View responses

You can see the responses to your form in 4 ways:

  • As a summary
  • As individual responses
  • In a spreadsheet
  • As a downloaded CSV file
New Google Forms (no "File" menu at the top)

View the summary of responses

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. At the top of the form, click RESPONSES.
  3. Click SUMMARY.

View individual responses

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. At the top of the form, click RESPONSES.
  3. Click INDIVIDUAL.
  4. To move between responses, click Previous respondent or Next respondent.

View responses in a spreadsheet

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. At the top of the form, click RESPONSES.
  3. To view the responses in a spreadsheet, click Spreadsheet . The spreadsheet will open.

Download responses as a CSV file

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. At the top of the form, click RESPONSES.
  3. Click More three vertical dots > Download responses (.csv).

View the summary of responses

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. Click Responses > Summary of responses.

View form responses in a spreadsheet

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. On the toolbar, click View responses. The spreadsheet will open.

Download responses as a CSV

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. Click File > Download as > Comma separated values.

Note: "View individual responses" is only available in the new Google Forms.

Manage responses

Limit to one response per form

You can set up your form so people can only submit it once.

New Google Forms (No "File" menu at top)

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. At the top, click Settings Settings.
  3. Check the box next to "Can submit only 1 response (requires login)."

Old Google Forms ("File" menu visible at top)

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. In the "Form settings" section at the top, check the box next to "Only allow one response per person (requires login)."

Note: People will be asked to sign in to their Google Account to use and fill out the form, but their usernames will not be recorded.

Stop collecting form responses

New Google Forms (No "File" menu at top)

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. At the top, click RESPONSES.
  3. Turn "Accepting responses" from On to Off.

When you've stopped accepting responses, you'll see a message in the "Responses" tab that says "Not accepting responses."

Old Google Forms ("File" menu visible at top)

  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. Open the "Responses" menu.
  3. Click Accepting responses.
  4. A message on your form will say "This form has been turned off."
  5. To accept responses again, click Responses > Not accepting responses.
Turn response notifications on or off
  1. Open a form in Google Forms.
  2. At the top, click RESPONSES.
  3. Click More three vertical dots .
  4. Click Get email notifications for new responses.
