When you insert smart chips into a spreadsheet, you can extract data from the smart chips into separate rows or columns.
- On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
- Select a cell with a single chip or a range of cells that each contain a chip.
- Choose an option:
- Right-click on the cell or cells

- Click Data > Data extraction

- Right-click on the cell or cells
- Under 'Data to extract', select the data types that you want to extract.
- Under 'Extract to', select a cell or a range of cells for the extracted data.

Refresh extracted data
To refresh extracted data from cells:
- On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
- Select a cell with a single chip or a range of cells with each containing a chip.
- Right-click on a cell

To refresh extracted data from Data extraction sidebar:
- On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
- Select a cell with a single chip or a range of cells with each containing a chip.
- Choose an option:
- Right-click on the cell or cells
Data extraction

- Click Data > Data extraction
.
- Right-click on the cell or cells
- Click Refresh and manage.
- Find the smart chips data that you want to refresh.
- Click Refresh data
Tip: To refresh all smart chips data, click Refresh all at the bottom of the sidebar.
Types of data that you can extract
You can extract data from smart chips in your Google Sheets to include information about the following chips:
People smart chip
File smart chip
Event smart chip
Note: Extracting uses your permissions to access the data, so you may be able to extract data into a file that collaborators on that file may not be able to access themselves.
