Customize your timeline view

In your timeline view, you can:

  • Customize your view interval and view mode.
  • Zoom in and out.
  • Publish and embed on sites.

Note: Now, you can view the timeline view experience on your Android or iOS mobile device.

Select your timeline view interval

Sort and access timeline view by:

Days (D)
Switches to a different interval.
Weeks (W)
Switches to a weekly interval.
Months (M)
Switches to a monthly interval with a Month/Day format.
Quarters (Q)
Switches to a quarterly interval with a total length of 4 quarters.
Years (Y)
Switches to a yearly interval with a total length of 12 months.
Multiyear
Switches to a yearly interval with a total length of 5 years.

Select your view mode

You can choose between 3 view modes:

  • Comfortable: The default view with more space between cards.
  • Condensed: Makes the card details fit closer together with less space in between.
  • Show cards in collapsed view: Merge cards into a single row for each card group.

Tip: When you select a view mode, only the view mode changes, not the source data.

Format your timeline view

Zoom in and out

  1. On your computer at the top right, select the zoom percentage number.
  2. Click the Down arrow .
  3. Select the desired zoom percentage from the drop down menu.

Return to today’s date

To return to today’s date, click Today .

Publish your timeline view

  1. On your computer, click File and then Share and then Publish to web.
  2. Choose to publish the entire spreadsheet or individual sheets.
    • Tip: You can also choose a publishing format.
  3. Click Publish.
  4. Copy the URL and send the file to anyone you want.

Print your timeline view

  1. On your computer, go to Google Sheets
  2. From a timeline view tab, select File and then Print.

Download your timeline view

You can download most common file types

  • Download to web page: On your computer, click File and then Download and then Web Page.
  • Download to PDF: On your computer, click File and then Download and then PDF.
