Set up targeting

Environment targeting

On August 26, we’ll be introducing a revamped environment and position targeting experience that includes critical updates to targeting, Reporting, and Structured Data Files. Learn how to prepare

Environment refers to the layout of the media where an ad appears, such as desktop or mobile web, mobile app, or mobile interstitial.

Display environment targeting settings

The following targeting combinations aren't supported from the same display line item:

  • Only "Desktop Web on Mobile" without other environments
  • Include "Desktop Web on Mobile" and exclude "Mobile Web"
  • Include both "Desktop Web" and "Mobile App" while excluding "Mobile Web"

For instance, if you only wanted to bid on mobile app inventory, you should target the "Mobile App" and "Mobile App Interstitial" environments.

See Guidelines for display creatives for details on creative specifications.

Video environment

If you're working with a video line item, environment targeting will reflect the layout of the video in which your ad will appear.
