Ad operations instructions

The ad operations staff typically is responsible for coordinating with mobile application developers, setting up ad units, and trafficking ads within DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP). The ad operations responsibilities generally fall into three stages, outlined below.

Step 1: Provide developers with instructions

Mobile application development varies by platform (Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 7), so be sure to tell the developers what platform to use.

Step 2: Set up ad units, orders, and line items in DFP

Once the application is developed, it's time to set up your application ad units, orders, and line items in DFP.

Trafficking line items and creatives for mobile applications is the same as trafficking line items and creatives for websites. A single line item can deliver to both websites and applications. Step 3: Provide developers with final details

In order to serve ads to your application, the last step is to provide your mobile application developer with the following information:

  • Network code: You can find this information in the Admin tab of DFP, under Network settings.
  • Ad unit code: The code of the application ad unit that you created.
  • Creative sizes: The ad sizes that you chose for your ad unit and line item.
  • Custom criteria: If you set up custom criteria, provide these to the Web developer (e.g. Age, Gender).

Notes:

  • AdMob dynamic allocation is supported for banners and interstitial creatives in mobile applications. AdMob dynamic allocation for mobile web is not supported.
  • AdMob creatives may be the following sizes: 300x250, 320x50, 320x480, 468x60, 480x320, 728x90, 768x1024, and 1024x768.
