Macros are short bits of code inserted into the ad tag that help DFP track clicks and serve impressions the way you’ve intended. There are a number of vendors DFP Small Business recognizes. This means that DFP Small Business can insert the cachebuster and click macros automatically once you click on Insert macros.

If DFP Small Business doesn’t recognize the code you will get the following warning after pasting the creative code:

"Sorry, we don't recognize this tag. If you want to track clicks via DFP and avoid counting discrepancies, you must insert the macros manually. Please contact the tag provider for directions on where to place the macros."

If you want to ensure accurate reporting data for this line item you have to insert the cachebuster and click macros manually. In general we recommend you to work with the provider of the creative code when it comes to inserting the macros in the correct positions.
