Ad Exchange dynamic allocation for mobile web and applications

To enable Ad Exchange dynamic allocation for your network, please contact your account manager.

You can send impressions from your mobile website or application to DoubleClick Ad Exchange. Ad Exchange line items compete with other remnant line items; this is called dynamic allocation. To learn more, read the AdSense line item overview.

You’ll need to create separate line items for mobile web and mobile applications. The web line items will be associated with your Ad Exchange web account (ca-pub-###...) and the in-app line items associated with your Ad Exchange in-app account (ca-mb-app-pub-###...). The in-app line item should include targeting for MRAID v1-enabled devices. See below for more details.

Mobile web

To create an Ad Exchange line item for mobile web, follow these steps:

  1. Create a new mobile line item.
    • In the Type menu, select Ad Exchange.
    • For the Web property alias, select the Ad Exchange web account name when you linked the Ad Exchange account to DFP. The account has the format ca-pub-###....
    • Under Targeting, select Inventory and include the appropriate mobile web or application ad unit.
    • Under Targeting, select Devices > Operating system and add Android and/or iOS operating systems. (Windows Phone 7 isn't supported by Ad Exchange.)
    • If any of the ad units targeted by this line item might be displayed by a mobile application using the Google Mobile Ads SDK, you should also exclude MRAID v1-capable devices: Under Targeting, select Devices > Device capability > MRAID v1, and select exclude.
  2. Click Save and... and select Upload creatives from the drop-down menu.
  3. On the New creative page, choose one of the following options for your creative:
    • Select dynamic allocation ad unit by name: Click in the text box to see a list of ad slots and make your selection.
    • Import dynamic allocation ad unit code snippet: If you select this option, you need to copy a JavaScript snippet from your Ad Exchange account and paste it into the text box. The ad tag code is generated when the ad unit is set up in Ad Exchange. To view and copy the code, click Get code under the ad unit name in your Ad Exchange account.
  4. Name the creative.
  5. Click Save.
