Opt-in to email sharing

What do I need to do?

When you log into your Meetup account and visit the GDG group home page you organize, you’ll see a bar at the top asking you to confirm your opt-in to sharing your email address.  Please click the red “Confirm” button.

If you don't see the bar appear, try logging in from a different browser or incognito window.  Your browser cookies may only allow the bar to show on your first login.

You may also receive an email with a similar message, where you can click to confirm.  The email subject line is "Action needed: Connect with GDG"

What does it do when I click “Confirm”?

This will allow us (the GDG program) to receive your email address as an organizer for your Meetup group. We use these email addresses to contact GDG organizers regarding GDG program communication.  ONLY organizers that opt-in to share their email addresses will be added as members of official program contact lists.  Your email address will only be used for communication regarding the GDG program and will not be shared or used for any other purpose.

I didn’t receive this email or see this bar when I logged into Meetup.  What should I do?

First, ensure that your group is part of the GDG Meetup Pro Network.  Secondly, ensure that you are either the primary organizer or the co-organizer of the GDG on Meetup.  Only these roles will be prompted for opt-in.  Other levels (assistant organizer or event organizer) will not be prompted for email opt-in.

If your GDG is in the GDG Meetup Pro Network and you are the primary or co-organizer of your group but did not receive this prompt, please reach out to pro@meetup.com or to your regional lead for support.
