Dear Data Studio fans,

This week, we're announcing the following:

Google Analytics 4 connector is officially out of "Labs" and is now in general availability. Additionally, you can now visualize your GA4 custom dimensions and metrics, and custom user properties in Data Studio.

More data from the Display & Video 360 connector
DV360 data sources now provide the following fields:

  • Line Item Type
  • Inventory Source Type
  • Creative Type
  • CM Post-View Revenue
  • Inventory Delivery Method
  • Insertion Order Status
  • Line Item Status

Improved Google Maps legend position
You can now position the Google Maps legend on the left or right of the chart. If your map uses both size and color legends, both legends must be on the same side.

Deprecating YouTube analytics watch time dimensions postponed
The deprecation of the old watch time dimensions in the YouTube Analytics connector will occur in January 2021.

This will be our last update for the year. From everyone on the Data Studio team, we wish you happy holidays, good health, and prosperity in the New Year!

Thanks for your interest in Data Studio!

Could you let us know what are the plans for Data Studio for 2021?

With these updates, did you somehow remove the ability to create tables without dimensions (which are at times unnecessary and redundant if you use filters)?

Thanks!

This seems to still work for me.

A table without dimensions is basically a scorecard. Is there a reason you aren't using that?

Hi,
I created threee custom dimensions in a GA4 property containing App data from Firebase. I can see and filter by the event parameters in the Analysis section of the GA4 property but I want to be able to see their values also in Data Studio, so I followed these instructions
If I use the GA4 connector in Data Studio to connect to that GA4 property I can see the new custom dimensions, however, if I try to add any event (like the purchase) the event count for these custom dimensions is always zero...and all the event count refers to the "not set" value (see also the screenshot attached)
I read that it could be the case for the first 24 hours after the creation so I waited 2 days but nothing changed.

My goal is to visualize the event parameter values in Data Studio using the connector and I thought that I could do it by defining custom dimensions starting from event parameters. Did I do something incorrect?
thanks,

Eva

Hi Data Studio Team,

Can you please add DV360's Audience List as 'Dimension' to the existing list within Data Studio please?

Our all programmatic campaigns are 3PD audience only so sharing our our segments worked at different level in campaign will help us manage our clients/campaigns better.

Thanks,
Sathish

Hello Data-Studio-Team,

i've created multiple custom dimensions in GA4. Unfortunately my data is not accurate when filtering by these custom dimensions in Google Data Studio. I've spent days on finding the problem and finally came to the conclusion, that it must be somewhere on Googles end.

I've attached 3 screenshots: #1 Google Analytics, #2 Big Query for raw data and #3 Data Studio with GA4 Connector.

#1 Google Analytics

#2 Big Query (raw data)

#3 Google Data Studio with GA Connector

As you can see, #1 and #2 are showing almost the same Data. #3 is showing total different values. I can confirm that all date-ranges / filters are set correctly.

Is this a Bug? Is there anything I can do? I definitely want to show the GA Data in Data Studio and not want to access the Big Query raw data.

Thank you
Maurice

Hi there!

In your first screenshot, the data quality icon in the upper right is red, indicating there's something going on with the data in that analysis. Can you mouse over it to see what it says? It's possible you're running into some sampling or thresholding (though why the numbers are so different between GA, BQ, and Data Studio remains a good question...)

Hi Rick,

thank you for your quick reply. Yes it's a sample of 0,4% of the available Data on Google Analytics (screenshot attached).

But when I compare the Google Analytics Data (sampled) with the raw data from Big Query im satisfied with the way the sampling is working. Only the numbers shown in Data Studio are total different.

My expectation would be to see the same sampled data like on Google Analytics when accessing them with DataStudio (via GA Connector).

Thank you
Maurice
