Data studio report data not matching with Google Analytics 0 Recommended Answers 20 Replies 25 Upvotes

Hi All,

I'm having an issue with my Data Studio report pulling from Google Analytics not matching at all with my Google Analytics data when pulled directly off the GA site. We are talking about big, big differences between the data here - the pageview and unique pageview results are doubled on Data studio basically. I have checked everything: made sure the filters and dates are set the same, made sure the data isn't being sampled on either report (it isn't.) I can't figure out why there are huge discrepancies and need advice.

It's important to note that the view I'm using on Google Analytics and the one that pulls into Data studio has a bunch of custom filters. These are made on the admin / view settings level. I'm assuming since they are implemented on the entire view level that Data studio pulls these through without having to add them someway. If not, I haven't seen a way to add these in to Data Studio.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same issue, user numbers in Data Studio are nearly doubled compared to Analytics. I wish someone could explain this.

Same - makes me unsure what to trust in any of the Data Studio reports.

Also struggling with this. It seems it's fine if the data is stripped back completely (like, all sessions GA vs all sessions DS) and adding built in filters like "organic only". However, the second you add something a bit more complex like "exclude - page - contains - /blog", the discrepancies creep in.

The more complex your filters, the worse it gets. REGEX is the worst offender for us. It's making reporting for clients really challenging and we don't really have an answer for it. Seems to be down to minute differences in the way that GA and DS parse filters.

Would help if Google could weigh in on this, as it makes no sense that 2 Google products pulling from the same data would present different results.

Same problem here as well. Like mentioned up there, as complexity increases with the filters, discrepancy becomes even worse.
