How to pass control filter value to formula 0 Recommended Answers 2 Replies 1 Upvote

Hi,

I am trying to pass a value of a control filter(single date) as a filter to a formula.

A user will be selecting a date from a control filter. Then this value will be used as a filter in formulas (for example, sum amounts where transaction date<=selected date from filter - 30 days).

Any suggestions on how to implement this or a workaround are more than welcomed.
Thanks

P.S. Not looking for the approach of advanced option for date range filter

Hi! I think this video can help you understand better how to use filters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=946YZlVsDHU&t=3s

Hi Daniela,

Thanks for the suggestion but I think this is not what I am looking for. I want to display on the same page, in two different tables a sum, on one table 30 days back from the date provided in the dropdown filter and on the other one 24hours from the date provided in the date dropdown filter(will list 10 days back from today). Then each table will have additional filters but these are not the issue. It is more about "feeding" the sum formulas and comparing the dates of the data source with the date provided in the dropdown filter or use the defined date in a filter for comparison instead of using fixed dates.

As a workaround, I thought of using two date range fields and group each one with the table I want to control. Or use a single date range filter and let the users change the date in order to get the desired 30 day or 24hours periods. However, this is not the best user experience. Ideally, I would like them to just pick a date from a dropdown filter (which practically will define the end date of the desired periods) and then have the two sums on the tables calculated for the desired periods(30 days and 24 hours).

I am not sure if my approaches above are correct as I used to work with PowerBI where you could define a date table and link it to a dataset through the model view.

Hope now it is more clear of what I am trying to do.
