Remove and restore a data source

Understand the effects of deleting and restoring data sources.

You can remove a data source from active use by moving it to the Trash. Moving a data source to the Trash also removes the data source from any reports to which it had been previously added. Any components in those reports that depend on that data source will display a "Configuration incomplete" error. (To fix that error, you can point the component at a new data source, or delete the component.)

Removing a data source will not warn you if it is currently added to any reports. You can see the reports that use a given data source via the Manage Added Reports option.

To remove a data source:

  1. Sign in to Data Studio.
  2. Navigate to the DATA SOURCES tab.
  3. Locate the data source you want to remove, then click the options menu More menu
  4. Click Remove.

Restore a data source

Reports and data sources in the Trash can be restored. Restoring a data source adds it back to any reports to which it had been previously added.

To restore a data source:

  1. Navigate to the DATA SOURCES tab.
  2. Select TRASH.
  3. Locate the data source you want to restore, then click the options menu More menu
  4. Click Restore.
