Remove a data source from a report
You can remove embedded and reusable data sources from your reports:
- Edit the report.
- Select Resources
Manage added data sources.
- Locate the data source in the list.
- To the right, click
REMOVE.
Any components in the report that use the data source will display a "Configuration incomplete" error. To fix this, add a new data source to the component.
Removing a reusable data source from a report doesn't affect other reports which use that data source.
Delete a reusable data source
To delete a reusable data source, move it to the Trash:
- Sign in to Data Studio.
- Navigate to the DATA SOURCES tab.
- Locate the data source you want to remove, then click the options menu
- Click
Remove.
Moving a data source to the Trash also removes the data source from any reports which use it.
Removing a data source will not warn you if it is currently added to any reports. You can see the reports which use a given data source by using the Manage Added Reports option.
Permanently delete a data source
Data sources in the Trash continue to exist unless you permanently delete them:
- Sign in to Data Studio.
- Navigate to the DATA SOURCES tab.
- On the left, select TRASH.
- Locate the data source you want to delete, then click
Options.
- Click
Delete forever.
You can't undo this action.
Restore a data source
You can restore items in the Trash. Restoring a reusable data source adds it back to any reports to which it had been previously added.
- Sign in to Data Studio.
- Navigate to the DATA SOURCES tab.
- On the left, select TRASH.
- Locate the data source you want to restore, then click the options menu
- Click
Restore.
Use version history
Restoring a report to a previous version restores any data sources that you've removed. Version history can't restore any data sources that have been permanently deleted.
