Understand why Datally asks for permissions

Datally needs some permissions for certain features to work. Some Datally features might not be available in your country.

Required permissions

Phone & phone calls

Datally needs to see your phone's state to show you info about your mobile data usage. Datally doesn’t make or receive any phone calls. In select countries, Datally needs this permission to help you access your balance using USSD.

When you use Datally, you may be asked to give permissions to access your phone calls.

Location

Datally uses your location to show you high-quality Wi-Fi networks near you, and give you directions to get there.

VPN

When Data Saver is turned on, Datally creates a secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) on your phone to help you understand and control your mobile data usage. The VPN allows Datally to stop apps from using mobile data when you don’t want them to. When you turn Data Saver off, the VPN also turns off.

Note: The Datally VPN is only on your phone. It doesn’t redirect your Internet traffic to any other servers or locations. Google doesn't receive the data in your VPN.

Optional permissions

SMS messages

Datally asks for permission to send and view SMS messages to help make the app work better:

  • Verify your phone number
  • Get your data balance from your carrier
  • Read messages to and from your carrier, if you turned on "Help improve Datally"
