Google Site Search FAQ
1. What if I exceed my query quota?
When your GSS engine exceeds the number of queries your license allows, multiple emails will be sent to the account that signed up to Google Site Search and the admin account added under Business Settings tab in Control Panel. You have 30 days from the initial email to upgrade or renew the license. If you don't, the search engine will be downgraded to a free Custom Search Engine.
2. Why are there ads in my Google Site Search results?
There are two possible reasons you might see ads in your Google Site Search results:
- Your Google Site Search license may have expired. Renew your license. You should have received a renewal alert at the email address you signed up with.
- If you didn't receive a renewal alert, contact technical support.
If your license hasn't expired but you still see ads, make sure your Google Site Search engine isn't associated with an AdSense account.
3. Why don't I see all search engines in a business group?
When you create a business group, the following aren't included:
- Active Google Site Search engines
- Search engines configured to search the entire web
4. URLs not indexed?
There are several common reasons a URL might not be indexed:
The URL doesn't exist or returns an error status when Google tries to crawl it.
The content of the URL is a duplicate of a page that Google has already crawled.
The contents of the URL are too large (for example, a large PDF).
Your available quota isn’t enough to cover all the URLs in the Sitemap you're submitting for indexing. If you’re requesting indexing of URLs in a Sitemap, you can use the <priority> tag to help Google understand which URLs are more important and should be prioritized for indexing. It's also possible that your Sitemap has an error. You can use Webmaster Tools to see any problems Google encountered when crawling URLs in your Sitemap.
