Getting started with Custom Search

Add custom search to your site

After you’ve created your custom search engine, it’s time to put it on your site so that visitors can use it.

  1. From the control panel, select the search engine you want to edit.
  2. Click Setup from the menu on the left and then click the Basics tab.
  3. Click Get code.
  4. Copy the code and paste it into your site’s HTML source code where you want your search engine to appear. If you've chosen the two column or two page layout option, you'll need to copy and paste two snippets of code:
    1. Paste the first code snippet where you want the search box to appear.
    2. Paste the second code snippet where you want the search results to appear.

How do I change the language of the search engine?

To change the language of your search engine
  1. From the control panel, select the search engine you want to edit.
  2. Click Setup from the menu on the left and then click the Basics tab.
  3. In the Language section, select a new Language.
  4. Click Get code.

How do I change the encoding of the search engine?

Custom Search Engine results use UTF-8 encoding by default. To change the encoding value
  1. From the control panel, select the search engine you want to edit.
  2. Click Setup from the menu on the left and then click the Basics tab.
  3. In the Language section, click Advanced.
  4. Select a different encoding under Search Engine Encoding.
  5. Click Get code.
