A new self-service feature is available in the CSS Center that allows you to directly manage your consent preferences for Google teams to work with some or all of your merchants to provide advanced technical services offered by Google. This update allows you to continuously manage the preference setting directly in CSS Center UI.
What is the merchant consent process? With your consent, your merchants may be eligible for advanced technical services offered by Google to help improve Shopping ads performance and feed health. These evolving services include, but are not limited to:
- Set-up support: Examples include Omnichannel activation (to drive in-store traffic and online sales) and new campaign optimizations.
- Feed support: Feed insights, expansion, or architecture support to help execute strategies that increase performance against business goals.
- Best practice support: PMax hygiene, best practice audits, or creative excellence reports to improve creative diversification.
In order to offer these services, Google requires you to give instructions on how to engage with your merchants. You can now update these preferences directly in the “Merchants” section of CSS Center, check the status of each merchant’s consent, and adjust your consent preference at any time. You’ll be able to choose from three options:
- Consent: Grants Google teams permission to contact the merchant for additional Shopping-related services. You will not be involved in these communications.
- Consent and subscribe: Grants Google teams permission to contact the merchant for additional Shopping-related services, and the CSS requests to be included on all communications. You will be prompted to provide an email address for this option.
- Decline: Indicates that Google teams should not contact the merchant for Shopping ads related services.
From our previous manual process and records, we’ve migrated your existing affirmative merchant consent choices to our new CSS center feature. If your preference currently shows as blank, we’ll now require you to make a selection. We encourage you to review your current settings and update them as needed to avoid any service disruptions.
