Creating a Standalone CS First Project

A playground project is a project that's created by you or your students, and is not associated with a CS First lesson. Essentially it's a blank canvas where users can create a project from the ground up. These projects are helpful if you want to create an example to share with a student or want to practice skills outside of a lesson.

Creating a New Playground Project

To create a new playground project, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your CS First dashboard.
  2. Click on Projects on the left-hand side (under the blue + button).
  3. Click on + New Project in the top right-hand corner.
  4. A new tab will open with the Scratch for CS First editor. The new/blank project will have no starter project and you or your students can code freely. The project is automatically saved as long as the user is signed in.
  5. Once you are in the Scratch for CS First editor, you can also click File > New to open a new/blank project.

Accessing Playground Projects

To access your playground projects, follow the steps below.

  1. Sign in to your CS First dashboard.
  2. Click on Projects on the left-hand side (under the blue + button).
  3. Scroll down to the playground projects section.
