By contributing suggested labels, you help Google enrich open-sourced images with data about entities in those images.
Labels that you add to images in the Crowdsource Image Visualizer may be seen by Google and external users for verification. Verified labels will be used for product improvement at Google. This means Google will use your image labels in research and development of its image-related technology, such as image recognition, organization by keywords, making images accessible to people with various disabilities.
In addition, verified labels will also be published publicly on the web, including as part of the Open Images Extended dataset, for use by developers, researchers, and other users worldwide. Your name will not be displayed to public users as a label donor.
Because your text contributions may be shown to Crowdsource users or other Google users helping with research and development, it’s important to avoid personal or sensitive material in your text contributions.
Image labels you add to Crowdsource Image Visualizer will count towards your total contributions under Achievements.
Label verification process
All of the suggested image labels go through a verification process that may involve algorithmic and/or human verification by Google and public users. Because of this, it might be several days before your suggested labels are verified and made publicly available for anyone to download and use. The verified labels will be displayed along with the images consistently.
In certain cases, suggested labels may be deleted by Google because they contain restricted phrases including but not limited to the following:
- Sensitive or personal information: Text containing information that reveals identity (e.g. credit card, social security, ID number, street addresses, contact information, and so on).
- Children: Harmful or abusive content involving children.
- Offensive or sexual content: Hateful, defamatory, and offensive languages and words depicting nudity, pornography, or sexual acts.
- Copyrighted content: Content from publications, movies, websites, music lyrics, etc..
- Gibberish or spam: Words that have no meaning or make no sense.
Delete image labels
You can delete any labels you add to Crowdsource Image Visualizer before they are verified. Note that you can’t change or delete the image labels after they have been verified.
