Use cellular data

Like most Android and iOS apps, Crowdsource is a cloud-based app that uses your cellular connection to transfer small amounts of data needed for basic app features, such as checking answers and validating translations. For transferring larger data including images, however, Crowdsource uses Wi-Fi only by default.

Depending on your data plan, you may want to turn this setting on to enable Crowdsource to use cellular when Wi-Fi is unavailable. Note that although Crowdsource compresses data and reduces image size to ensure that as little data as possible is transferred, this setting could have an impact on your data charges.

This setting applies when you:
 • Upload images for the Image Capture and Smart Camera tasks
 • Download Smart Camera object recognition model
 • Download tasks for offline use (which may contain images).

If you have the setting “Download tasks to do offline” turned on, Crowdsource will download offline tasks based on the your choice of numbers and task types when you have network connection.

When download tasks to do offline, choose at least one task from "Choose tasks to download" list.
