Delete images

Images that you’ve uploaded to Crowdsource exist in at least two places: on the Crowdsource servers and on your device. For this reason, you can delete the images from your device to save space without affecting your Crowdsource images.

Delete images from Crowdsource

  1. Tap Account menu > My uploads on the Crowdsource home screen, or tap My uploads  on the Image Capture home screen.
  2. Tap the photo you want to remove and then tap Delete .

The image is deleted from Crowdsource and from Google’s servers. To remove the image from your device, you must use an Android photo app, such as Gallery or Photos.

A large subset of images that were marked for open-sourcing has been released as part of Open Images Extended (embed this URL: https://ai.google/tools/datasets/open-images-extended-crowdsourced/). When you delete an image from your "My Uploads", it is also deleted from Open Images Extended (note that this deletion may take a few days to propagate).

Note that if an image has been open-sourced, deleting it from Google’s servers will not ensure that every copy of the image is deleted, since others may have copied or reused the image prior to Google’s deletion. Once another party copies your image, there’s nothing Google can do to retrieve or delete that image. If you have any reservations about others having free access to your images, please do not select the open-source option.

Image upload latency

If you haven’t updated your Crowdsource app after July, 2020, you may experience delays in seeing your Image Capture contributions under My uploads up to 24 hours.

Google will not use or open-source contributed images during this period. Once your images are visible in My uploads, you are able to delete the images.

To avoid image upload latency, please update your app to the latest version from Google Play to ensure the most optimized experience.
