What do I do if I can’t answer a question?
If the question seems ambiguous, or you think you don’t know the answer, just skip that question and move on to the next one using the Skip option.
Will I get paid for my answers?
No. Crowdsource is a community effort–we rely on the goodwill of community members to help improve the quality of services such as Google Maps, Google Translate, and others, so that everybody in the world can benefit.
Does uninstalling the app remove all my Crowdsource data?
The mobile app is just one of the ways that you can help answer questions for Crowdsource. The answers that you give reside on our servers, and therefore are not automatically removed when you uninstall the app.
How can I delete my Crowdsource data?
Please refer to the “Delete Images” help section to understand how to delete images donated through the “Image Capture” task.
We keep a count of how many answers you’ve given for each question type. These counts, along with your badges and achievements, are deleted when you delete your Google account.
Why can’t I find my language in the language list?
Note that many of the language names are shown in the native script of the language and show up at the bottom of the list, rather than in alphabetical sort order.
Why did some Crowdsource tasks disappear?
Crowdsource is continuously evolving. In some instances, a Crowdsource task may be removed for certain languages where it's already achieved critical mass or may be removed from the Crowdsource app altogether. If a badge existed for this task, the badge will still be displayed as an achievement for users who earned it but will appear grayed out or not at all for other users.
Can I change the languages for translation tasks?
Yes. Tap Swap to switch the order of the translation tasks. For example, if you’re doing translation tasks from English to German, tap Swap to switch to German-to-English tasks. If you’ve indicated a third language in the list of languages you know, you can switch to tasks in that language by simply tapping either the source or the target language. Please keep in mind that the task displayed may change if you change your language selection.
How do I turn on the keyboard for languages other than English?
You need to have the Keyboard app installed in your Language settings for Android. This app enables you to switch between different keyboards and use the right one for your answers.
Does the app work even when I’m offline or have turned off cellular data?
Yes. The app will store a few tasks every time you’re connected to WiFi or cellular (depending on what you've selected in Crowdsource Settings). You can therefore do tasks even when you don’t have a connection. Your answers and contribution count are synced whenever you get back online.
Do Translate Community tasks done from the app increase my contribution count on the Translate Community site?
Yes. As long as you've signed in with one Google account, any Translate Community tasks that you do from the app will be counted in your contributions on the main Translate Community site.

Will I receive emails or notifications from Crowdsource?
Yes, Crowdsource will occasionally send friendly notifications to encourage you to complete tasks and meet your task pledges. As for emails, Crowdsource will send local event announcements to all contributors, and quarterly newsletters to contributors that have reached Level 5 or higher.
How can I opt-out of receiving periodic emails and newsletters?
To opt-out of receiving emails and newsletters:
- Open the Crowdsource mobile app.
- Tap the Account menu and Crowdsource Settings.
- Scroll down to Notifications and communication.
- Turn Receive emails off.
