Trust in charts

Help us understand how to design charts that are more useful for people.

In each task you will be asked to answer a single-choice question about a chart. You can go on and rate as many charts as you like.

Take a few moments to consider everything that is shown in the chart and think about the main message it is trying to bring across.

  • Sometimes a chart might look somewhat similar to other charts you've already seen. This is intentional, as we are aiming to understand how different chart properties impact how much you trust them.
  • Choose Yes - if you think you would trust this chart when planning an outdoor event in the future. There may be other factors to consider when planning the event - the question merely asks if you could consider the information in your decisions, possibly alongside other sources.
  • Choose No - if you don’t think you would trust the chart to plan an outdoor event in the future.  You may want to pick this option if for whatever reason the chart doesn’t seem to be a reliable source of information to consider in your decision.
  • Choose Skip - if you are not sure how to answer the question.
