Calibrate your region
Before you start working with the data, follow this checklist. Note your answers to the following questions about your region.
Did anything significant happen between Jan 3 and Feb 6, 2020?
Each day’s baseline is the median day-value from the 5-week period in January. Think about local events and seasonal changes that might bias the baseline:
- Did your region experience a cold winter or a summer transitioning into fall?
- Did public holidays fall on the same day of the week?
- Do you have other data sources (such as road tolls, parking meters, or subway turnstiles) that you could help you determine the expected change?
