Reduce Annual Plan licenses during free trial

Applies to Google Workspace and Cloud Identity Premium.

If you set up billing during your free trial period and choose the Annual Plan, you can use Google Workspace with up to 10 user licenses or Cloud Identity with up to 50 user licenses, for free, during the trial. When your trial ends, you must pay for your current number of licenses for the full year of your contract. If you initially request more licenses than you need for your contract, and your free trial hasn’t yet expired, you can reduce your number of licenses.

You must perform these steps before your trial ends. After you start your paid subscription on the Annual Plan, you can’t remove licenses until it’s time to renew your annual contract.

Reduce licenses before your trial ends

1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

   Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

2. In the Admin console, go to Menu  BillingSubscriptions.
3. Click your subscription.
4. Below Plan renewal, click Change renewal settings.
5. Select Flexible Plan and click Continue and review.
6. Review the terms and click Accept and continue.
7. All unassigned licenses are removed when you switch to the Flexible Plan. To remove additional users, go to the Users page to delete them.
8. Once you have the number of users you want for after the trial, return to the Billing page.
9. Click your subscription.
10. Below Plan renewal, click Change renewal settings.
11. Select Annual Plan and click Continue and review.
12. Review the terms and click Accept and continue.
