Networking resources help you manage networks, firewalls, domain names, and other aspects of your networks and instances.

Networks
Each project in the console starts with one network called default. The default network is automatically created for you, and you do not need to take any action to initialize it. You can add more additional networks to a single project. You may need these networks to help manage Compute Engine instances. Learn more
External IP addresses
You can reserve a new static external IP address that is assigned to your project and persists until you explicitly release it. Or you can promote an ephemeral external IP address to a static external IP address.
You can do this in the console, or use gcloud compute with the addresses create command, or make a PUT request to the appropriate regional Addresses collection to reserve a static external IP address. Learn more
Firewall rules
You can use firewall rules to determine which machines and instances can access your networks. Learn more
Routes
By default, every network has one default route to direct traffic to the Internet and one route to direct traffic to other instances within the network. Learn more
Load balancing
Network load balancing allows you to balance load of your systems based on incoming IP protocol data, such as address, port, and protocol type. Learn more
HTTP load balancing provides global load balancing for incoming HTTP or HTTPS requests, allowing these requests to be sent to different sets of backends based on patterns in the URL. Learn more
Cloud DNS
Google Cloud DNS is a high-performance, resilient, global Domain Name System (DNS) service. Learn more
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Google Compute Engine VPN lets you connect your existing network to your Compute Engine network via an IPsec connection. Alternatively, you can use it to connect two different Google Compute Engine VPN gateways. Learn more
