Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Migration FAQ

Due to local requirements, customers based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) must purchase Google Cloud using one of these methods:

  • From CNTXT, a strategic reseller which also operates as a local Google Cloud expert in Saudi Arabia
  • Other authorized Google Cloud resellers who resell in the KSA via CNTXT.

About the migration

What do I need to do to migrate from Google?
You will need to provide consent for Google to migrate your billing data to CNTXT, and will also need to sign a new contract directly with CNTXT or your chosen authorized KSA Google Cloud reseller.
Why do I need to provide my old Cloud Billing account ID to CNTXT?

Your old Cloud Billing account will no longer be used. Instead, a new Cloud Billing account will be set up. The old billing account and newly created billing account are required to identify your existing resources for the migration.

What data will you have to access for the migration? Who will have access to this data?
Secure data transfer and security practices will be used. Our customer privacy and data security is of paramount importance. During the migration, we will only access resource names and identifiers, IAM roles and relationships and associations between projects, billing accounts, and organizations.
When is the migration planned?

After you give your consent and sign a new contract with CNTXT or your chosen authorized KSA Google Cloud reseller, the migration of your account will start around February and March 2024

Will I receive a notification from Google when the migration begins and ends?
You will be notified by Google, CNTXT or your chosen authorized KSA Google Cloud reseller when your migration has been successfully completed.
What will happen to my account during the migration?

After you migrate your account, your old account will be closed. Your projects and data will be moved to your new account. Your resources will continue running as expected.

Will open quotes and sales orders be migrated or closed before migration?

Open quotes will not be migrated. A new sales order will be required between you and CNTXT, or your chosen authorized Google Cloud reseller. The updated contract will supersede the previous Google Cloud contract.

Can I choose to not migrate my account to CNTXT or an authorized KSA Google Cloud reseller?

Yes. However, if you have a billing address located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, you will only be able to receive Google Cloud services through CNTXT or an authorised KSA Google Cloud reseller. If you have a billing address located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and choose not to migrate your account, it will be deleted by the end of the migration period.

Can I continue using Google Maps Platform services directly with Google?
All  Google Cloud customers with a billing address located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including those using Google Maps Platform APIs, will need to migrate to CNTXT or other authorized Google Maps Platform resellers.

After the migration

How will customers be billed for Google Cloud in the KSA region after the migration?
All customers with a billing address in KSA must have a contract with CNTXT or an authorized Google Cloud reseller in the KSA. Billing will be provided through the entity that you are contracting with.
When does billing start on the new account?
Charges start accruing on the new account the same day the new account is opened and the migration to the new Cloud Billing account is completed. Charges for that day could be split between the old and new accounts depending on the time of usage. When the charge is due depends on your billing cycle.
How do I pay off my last bill to Google?
When your Cloud Billing account is migrated, the original account will be closed. We will send you an email letting you know of the account closure. Your final invoice will come at the end of your billing cycle detailing the outstanding balance.

Existing discounts and Free Trial Credits

If I already have a Committed Use Discount (CUD), what will happen after I migrate to CNTXT?
CUDs are purchased per region, so you will not be able to use them in the new region. In addition, CUDs cannot be canceled once in effect, so Google will need to close them. Any new CUDs will need to be agreed with CNTXT or your chosen authorized Google Cloud reseller.
Will other existing discounts, payment and tax information and usage data be migrated for me?
Existing discounts will not be migrated to the new Cloud billing account under CNTXT or your chosen authorized Google Cloud reseller. CNTXT or your chosen Google Cloud reseller will enter into a new contract with you with new terms and conditions.

In addition, invoices and payments information, including tax information from your old Cloud Billing accounts, will remain available on the Payments profile where they were initially created. You will need to log into your old profile to access and view previous (pre-migration) invoices.

Google Cloud usage data that occurred on your old Cloud Billing account will not be migrated to the new Cloud Billing account. You will need to log into your old profile to access and view prior (pre-migration) usage data.

Will launch credits be available to new customers?
No launch credits will be available.

Customer Support

My account was migrated, but I have some problems. What should I do?

Who provides customer support to me?
